Israel and Palestine, an example to work the present conflicts and the peace culture at the school |
The Israeli and Palestinian conflict has become in the recent decades one of the international political epicenters and the key to understand several other world conflicts. The privacy of freedom and the violation of human rights suffered by the Palestinian population and the unsuccessful attempts to reach a peace agreement make this conflict a unique example to work in the school none only the political and historical approach but new strategies to develop the critical awareness and the peace culture through participative activities developed by entities and non governmental organizations. With that approach we present the summer course “Israel and Palestine, an example to work the present conflicts and the peace culture at the school”. The aims of the course are: - To promote the introduction of the peace education and the participative methodology in the ordinary curriculum. - To present the resources and the pedagogical experiences offered by different entities, non governmental organizations and other movements, to work the human rights, the peace culture and several present conflicts at the school. - To promote the use of the alternative information medias offered by the new technologies to counteract the mass media information and to develop the critical awareness of the students. - To facilitate the debate and the creation of new resources and activities for the teachers. The course is addressed to secondary school teachers.
