Anti-racist Theatre of the Oppressed group
Following our Theatre of the Oppressed experience in the frame of the training "Deconstruct racism: building interculturality" that we have organized in December 2015; we have got the virus and we wish to keep working with this tool so powerful in representing reality and social transformation, talk about power, ranking, oppressed and oppressors, and in questioning our own privileges, and so on and so forth.
So we want to open a Theatre of the Oppressed group whose purpose will be to work on the situation of racism in our society and then to create a theatre play of Forum theatre in order to raise new speeches and new visions better connected to anti-racism and interculturality.
In this perspective, we will set an introduction of the Theatre of the Oppressed that will start with an Intensive course in July provided by La Xixa Teatre. During this course, we would like to create an embryo of theatre play and perform it in front of a small and trustful audience. Coming back from summer holidays, the idea would be to develop the embryo through various rehearsals as a group in order to be able to perform the play in front of a broader audience at the end of the year.In case we want it and the play is successful, the idea would be to continue to perform it in various spaces that we will define together.
Dates and Schedule
On Tuesdays 5th, 12th and 19th and on Thursdays 7th, 14th and 21st of July from 5:302 to 8:00 pm. On Saturday 9th of July, intensive session from 4 to 8 pm.
Location: to be defined, in the center city of Barcelona.
