Campaign of support to the project Bibliomula in Venezuela

Hallo friends! We would like to invite you to participate to our campaign and to collect money in order to help theBibliomulaproject in Mérida (Venezuela). We highly estimate your help since thanks to you all we will keep on developing our idea that 'bringing books to communities' is a step towards a better world.

Bibliomulaproject in Mérida started in 2010 with the involvement of three rural schools in the Venezuelan Andes. The name of the project stands for 'the donkey library' and it aims at the promotion, the strengthening and the encouragement towards reading and writing for children and teachers.  Bibliomulavisits the communities once per week and launches reading activities, tales and games aiming at brighten up the reading matters. The 'donkey library'crew is composed by: the reading promoter, the mule driver and Frailejona, the mule carrying books and tales in her saddlebag. Once per week they undertake the path towards the Páramo Mountains in order to meet the Andean communities living at 3.000 meters above the sea level. Teachers and promoters are coached by means of workshops dealing with competence in reading contents and preparation of reading and writing strategies; the workshops, taking place once per month, are given by experts in the field.

Proyecto Bibliomula Mérida

During the first year more than 170 children took advantage of the project and empowered and strengthen their reading skills; 25 teachers have been trained on reading and writing strategies by means of workshops; about 150 books have been donated or bought. The next step is the opening of a reading room for the entire community in the Mitantí shelter.
